Bed Frames by Size
Our bed frames range from 3ft single to 6ft super king, with options for compact rooms, guest bedrooms and larger spaces.
For smaller bedrooms, a single bed keeps the footprint to a minimum, while a small double bed gives one sleeper noticeably more room without taking up as much space as a standard double. Small doubles can also work well in guest rooms where you want to accommodate two people occasionally.
A double bed is the natural middle ground for two sleepers, while a king size bed adds both extra width and length, making it particularly useful for taller sleepers or couples who prefer more room.
A super king size bed gives two sleepers considerably more personal space and is best suited to larger bedrooms with enough floor area for a more generous frame.
Once you’ve settled on the right bed size, choose a mattress to match, then narrow your options by firmness and support depending on how you prefer to sleep.
Types of Bed Frames Available
Slatted bed frames keep the structure simple, while beds with headboards include panelled and spindle designs that add more detail around the top of the frame. Sleigh beds have curved head and foot ends for a deeper shape, while four-poster beds add height and make the bed a stronger feature in the room. Low foot ends keep the frame more open, while higher foot ends create a more enclosed shape.
Ottoman beds and beds with drawers add storage beneath the mattress for spare bedding, clothes and other bedroom essentials. Ottoman designs can open from the side or foot end, depending on how you want to access the storage.
For more specific room needs, wall beds, bunk beds, cabin beds, day beds and trundle beds offer alternatives where floor space, guest sleeping or shared bedrooms are the priority.
Wooden and Oak Bed Frames
Wooden bed frames vary considerably depending on how the timber is finished. Waxed oak brings out the grain and gives the wood a warmer tone, while natural-oil finishes leave more of the timber’s colour and variation visible. Weathered and aged oak have a softer, more worn appearance, making them a good fit if you prefer less of the golden tone associated with traditional oak.
Rustic oak is used across several of the heavier wooden designs, where knots, grain and changes in tone become a noticeable part of the bed itself. Painted wooden frames are also available in white, grey, blue and charcoal, giving the same wooden construction a very different visual finish.

For standard UK bed sizes, match the mattress to the bed size:

Do your beds come with a headboard?

Does a bed frame take up more space than the mattress?
Usually, yes. A 4ft 6in double mattress measures 135 x 190cm, for example, but the complete bed will normally be wider and longer once the headboard, foot end and side rails are included. Sleigh, upholstered and larger panelled designs can add noticeably more to the footprint, so measure using the full bed dimensions rather than the mattress size alone.
What is the difference between solid and sprung bed slats?
Solid slats create a firmer, more rigid base beneath the mattress. Sprung slats curve slightly and flex under pressure, giving the mattress a little more cushioning. The type of slat can therefore affect how firm your mattress feels once it is on the bed.
